Did the star wall inspire the outfit, or did the outfit inspire the star wall? In any case, this #ootd and setting have got me ready for a long holiday weekend! BUT FIRST–outfit synopsis (and a work day).

I’m not one for pops of bright color. But for some reason this #ootd called for an over-sized color block clutch. Maybe it’s because love conquered all last week — #LoveWins (!!) — or maybe it’s the upcoming holiday weekend. Either way, it seemed like a clutch move.

I have really been into the tunic + pant/dress + pant look the past few months–dressed up or dressed down. This retro tunic isn’t quite long enough to wear alone as a dress, a little too long to wear without the right short length, but the perfect length to complement boyfriend jeans. The babydoll silhouette gives it a flattering fit that makes you just want to twirl around on a summer’s day (clearly, as pictured above). The mock neck, open back and double button closure at the neck take home the trophy for Most Effortless and Perfect Details, which sealed the deal on this purchase. Or maybe it’s the fact that it’s white? Don’t worry–it comes in a variety of colors.

This #ootd could have gone glads/sandals or wedges–I guess it just depends what you’re going for. I was going for a playful summer-afternoon-under-the-sun-twirling-in-front-of-geometric-stars vibe (hence the wedges); rather than your boyfriend’s-Saturday-morning-baseball-scrimmage or stroll-to-the-farmer’s-market kind of vibe.

I am a sucker for buying or wearing anything that is black, navy or white–same applies to my gold jewelry and neutral-colored accessory habits. This purse comes in clutch for the occasional #ootd–I’d say it really outdid itself this time around, perfectly coordinating with its wall-painted soulmate.

A long chain pendant was just what this outfit needed to tie it together. (Okay, I am sure something else would also do it justice but I am biased.) This necklace is one of my most treasured pieces. The fun shade of emerald green and marble/resin scheme give it a dynamic look with every outfit. It hangs perfectly and is a simple statement piece. Now I just need to get the earrings and necklaces in every color…

To sum it up, this tunic is everything. I think I’ll go twirl around in it some more. Here’s to a little inspiration and a happy little #ootd heading into a festive weekend!

Jeans: J. Crew (old) — but check out Madewell‘s jean shop for your boyfriend jeans dreams come true!

Wedges: Aldo (old) — check out Steve Madden for similar ones I’m currently lusting over, or Aldo
