My Instagram feed recently has been a blend of people who are so anxious for fall style–wearing scarves, sweaters and boots. And then with people who aren’t quite ready for summer to be over–with summer dress fever and a sandal game so strong, it will be snowing until they take them off. Meanwhile, I am somewhere in between.
Summer To Fall Outfit Inspiration
I’m feeling semi-neutral about preparing for the summer-to-fall wardrobe transition. I love love layering, fall colors, cozy and oversized knits, boots, wearing tights (yes I love wearing tights), scarves and beanie hats (I pretty much live in one). Basically, all things fall and fall essentials. So why am I feeling all “yeah sure okay fine” about it!? I have a few thoughts.
Exhibit A: This #ootd–which you may remember a variation of from this summer style post.
Ripped black jeans and booties in the summer–not your typical summer go-tos! But it’s the shirt! It’s the shirt that made it work for summer. Aaaaaaand now I am going to make it work for a fall outfit.
In the past year, I feel like more of my clothes have been more seasonally flexible than I remember. Florals have been making their way year-round, the no-white-rule-after-Labor-Day has expired and creative layering keeps things relevant and fresh.
As I write this post, it’s the first day here in the mountains that actually feels like fall–and that air is fresh and crisp! I am kind of loving it and it did get me feeling more excited for fall–moreso just for the weather. But so did this outfit, which is a perfect example of how to wear your summer favorites for your fall #ootds. It’s got a little summer edge with a festival-ready vibe, just in time for that perfect 60-70 degree weather (and who doesn’t love festival style?)
Exhibit C: Just add layers. And grab a Wayfarer IPA from Green Man Brewery. Cheers!
